Trails Magic Beseeches Archery Companions

Rangers use magic, but spells are the use of life mana to force their will over nature somewhat. They are still limited by what nature can provide, but the Ranger nevertheless is applying the force.
With beseeches, it's a different story. The Ranger is making a request of nature, and nature will respond based on how strong the Ranger's link to nature is (the level of their "bonus") and, in some cases, how much of their spirit the Ranger is willing to sacrifice in exchange. But the reward is worth the price, because beseeches open the door to the more powerful side of nature. But be warned: mighty forces can have mighty drawbacks if abused or overused.
The basic syntax format is BESEECH <nature aspect> TO <task> [item/creature/player]. Not all beseeches have a target, so the final parameter is as applicable to the beseech and is, in some cases, optional. All aspects except "elanthia" have "the" in front of them.

~What They Do~ |
|
| beseech the sun to dry | Calling on the power of the sun, this beseech allows a Ranger to dry herbs without a Wayerd pyramid or to dry themselves after a swim. |
| beseech elanthia to imbue | This beseech will imbue a simple rock with the very nature of the Ranger themselves, allowing it to be used by others who rub it as a translator of Ranger signals or by the Ranger themselves to form a PTM. |
| beseech the wind to clean | Calling upon the power of the mighty wind, a Ranger can clear an area of debris and clutter quickly and efficiently. One must be careful nothing of value is on the ground, as the wind does not differentiate for ownership. |
| beseech elanthia to cradle | When a Ranger is in need, they can use this beseech and the very ground itself will respond, sending forth vines that will encase them. Bleeding will be stopped, allowing time for healing herbs and one's stamina to do their work. Once this power is summoned, the Ranger will be stunned until the vines finish wrapping them and any movement will cause the cradle to collapse. Sprit must be aligned to form the cradle. |
| beseech the wind to preserve | Summoning the ice-cold winds of the Spine mountains themselves, this beseech will preserve small items, keeping them fresh longer. One of the most common uses is the preservation of meat. The more spirit one aligns for use in the beseech, the longer the preservation will last. | beseech elanthia to petrify | Similar to what happens to some woods over time, this beseech calls upon the natural effect of petrification. As a result, the Ranger's leather armor stiffens, increasing it's hinderance but also it's protection, for a short time. |
| beseech the dark to sing | Mimicking the bats which live in the caves, a skilled Ranger who completes the quest can use sound and heightened hearing to "see" what their eyes cannot. |
| beseech elanthia to seal | Through their link with nature, a Ranger can summon vines which wrap themselves around a grave, bringing with them large rocks and forming a cairn of sorts. This helps to protect a grave, causing the items within to take longer to rise to the surface on their own. The one to whom the grave belongs will still find it as welcoming as usual when they return for their belongings. |
| beseech the water to solidify | (No information yet.) |
| beseech the wind to refresh | Like a Mage's Zephyr, the Ranger too can summon the wind for relief of fatigue. |
| beseech elanthia to transfer | One of the most (if not the most) powerful beseeches yet discovered, this beseech allows a Ranger to sacrifice spirit health in exchange for restrengthening their link to nature. It requires one's link to already be relatively strong (~2/3 full or better) and is demanding of one's spirit but can not only return one's link to full strength, but can allow them to temporarily exceed normal limits and resist the detrimental effects of being inside the walls of a city for short periods of time. |
